What This Feature Does
Instead of writing the same email for everyone, you can:
- Insert dynamic placeholders (e.g., {{company_name}})
- Personalize emails for each lead automatically
- Use imported data directly inside your sequences
- This helps make your emails more relevant and human.
How It Works
Custom Variables are created during CSV import.
Upload your CSV file
Map your columns (e.g., Company Name → {{company_name}})
Save and import leads
Each lead’s data is stored and can be used inside your email content using variables like:
{{first_name}}, {{company_name}}, {{city}}, etc.
How to Use It
You can use Custom Variables directly inside your email copy.
For example:
Hi {{first_name}},
I noticed your company {{company_name}} is based in {{city}}...
- Each lead will receive a personalized version of the email based on their data.
- You can preview your sequence using the mini search icon at the bottom as shown in the screencap shared below & this how you personalized email copy will look like
Important Notes
- Custom Variables are mapped during CSV import, not created in settings
- If a variable is not mapped or data is missing, it may appear empty in emails
- They are used for personalization only, not for filtering or segmentation
Why Use This?
This is perfect if:
- You want to personalize emails at scale
- You are importing lead data from tools like Clay or CSV files
- It helps you send more personalized emails without manual effort.
